Biore Warming Anti Blackhead Cream Cleanser Review

Biore Warming Anti Blackhead Cream Cleanser

Out of the entire Biore line, the warming anti-blackhead cream cleanser is supposed to the main one meant to target blackheads and make them virtually disappear. They even claim it “cleans five times better than any other warming cleanser while leaving the skin fresh and smooth.” This is very specific considering there are only a few warming cleansers, while there are quite a few different blackhead treatments in general.

Killing blackheads takes 3 steps. First you have to exfoliate. The only active ingredient in Biore warming anti blackhead cream cleanser is salicylic acid, which does not exfoliate, nor did we see an ingredient in the inactive ingredients that would exfoliate. Second, you have to allow oxygen to infiltrate the pores, which again, the warming anti blackhead cream cleanser does nothing to promote. And finally shrinking pores, the warming anti blackhead cream cleanser definitely does not do this.

Biore Warming Anti Blackhead Cream Cleanser Ingredients

Active ingredient: Salicylic acid 2.0%

Inactive ingredients: zeolite, PEG-8, butylene glycol, ethoxydiglycol, cellulose, sodium lauroyl lactylate, polyethylene, cetearyl alcohol, ceteth-20 phosphate, dicetyl phosphate, cetyl dimethicone, hydroxypropylcellulose, BHT, fragrance, blue 1 lake, yellow 10 lake

The main preservatives in the Biore warming anti blackhead cream cleanser is butylene glycol, which essentially has the same side effects as benzoyl peroxide, but without the acne fighting effects. So your skin will be red, itchy, irritated, sensitive to the sun, peeling, and your acne will not disappear.

All things considered, Biore is a grocery store brand. So you get what you pay for. They make a lot of fancy claims about how it will decimate your blackheads, but nothing to back that claim up. They depend on the idea that you will not actually know anything about blackhead treatments and will therefore buy their product under false assumptions.

Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide is one of the main ingredients used in literally hundreds of prescription and over the counter acne treatments for two reasons, it is cheap and it works. It quickly works as an antibacterial, killing the bacteria, but not actually shrinking the pores or exfoliating. It comes with various side effects such as itchiness, dryness, redness, and severe irritation for some. In and of itself, it does not have many of the factors required for serious acne treatment. In addition, many have reported that due to its elements, you become dependent on it for years to come. It essentially clears out the pores in such a way that should you stop treating it at any time, it leaves open gaps and a great environment for bacteria to quickly grow and regenerate itself. It may be proven. But for all intensive purposes, we would not suggest benzoyl peroxide to treat any kind of acne, let alone blackheads.

Baking Soda Acne Treatment

October 1st, 2009

Baking soda is something I usually only use in my fridge to keep everything smelling good or for that matter when I make my sister bake some cookies.  I don’t actually bake anything for myself.  So that’s why I don’t actually use it.  But with this in mind, some would say that the best combination is baking soda masks and acne treatment.

Honestly speaking, baking soda masks and acne treatment works, because basically speaking you only have to mix it with water.  So you really can’t get anything cheaper than baking soda masks.  It’s practically free.  But also, it’s often used in dishwasher detergents, why?  Because baking soda kills off bacteria.  You can use it for harsher things like cleaning corrosion from car batteries, or you can use it for your face, it is gentle enough and yet powerful enough at the same time.

You basically just put it on your face, and then you wash it off with warm water a few minutes later.  A baking soda mask and acne treatment is that simple.  It tightens your skin, kills off bacteria, instantly reduces acne and inflammation, and with a baking soda mask, you don’t have to worry about side effects.  You should combine baking soda masks with other powerful and daily acne treatment options.  However, it definitely plays a key part in getting all the results you are ultimately speaking looking for.

Natural Acne Treatments That Work

September 29th, 2009

We all want to take the natural approach to some degree.  The natural approach appeals to us.  It means no complications, no side effects, no chemicals.  But at the same time, there are plenty of people who understandably believe that their only way out is to use those prescription and damaging chemicals.  This being said, they have some logic.  I mean those have been clinically proven, and in many fields, quite frankly speaking, natural treatments have not.

But in the field of acne treatments, you can actually find natural acne treatments that work.  Natural acne treatments that work are just as clinically proven if not moreso in some cases than prescription acne treatments you may find.  Oftentimes, they have undergone multiple clinical studies rather than just one or two, and unlike prescription options they have never stopped conducting multiple studies to prove their efficacy.

This being said, many natural acne treatments that work also have substantially longer histories than prescription acne treatments.  This being said, tea tree oil for example actually has been around since the early 1900’s.  They really can’t say that for Accutane to say the least.  There’s also the fact that many prescriptions are actually based on natural acne treatments like vitamin A for example.

With all of this in mind, it’s easier than ever to find natural acne treatments that work. It’s not as complicated as you may think, and they are truly everywhere.  With all of this in mind, I would definitely suggest checking out all your options before you think that you have tried everything because you have tried every prescription.

Acne Steroids

July 6th, 2009

I remember, I first heard of steroids as these horrible things that would give you pimples and shrink men’s testicles among other things.  Of course, being a girl I didn’t care so much about certain parts, but hated the idea of other parts.  So when my doctor gave me my first asthma inhaler and told me it used steroids, I was turned off to say the least.  But as I grew up, of course I wasn’t going to not use it all things considered, and I learned that not all steroids are of the types used for those purposes.  For example, they do have estrogen instead of testosterone based steroids.  But the kind used in asthma devices are obviously quite different than either of those immediately working to open the airways, reduce constriction, etc.

Then I found that there were other steroids more commonly used for the treatment of acne.  Imagine my surprise when I found this out.  But of course it makes more sense now that I learn more about it.  They are generally taken internally and can therefore get to any area of acne.  But they can also be used externally.  It is generally used when other options have failed, and it can clear up acne in part by reducing inflammation among other things.  That is however its main mechanism of action keep in mind.  However, acne steroids it should be noted have some of the same liver problems and other side effects as the steroids you remember from sports memorabilia among other things.  So they should be taken with caution.  They do not produce side effects or results in every patient.  It just varies.

Acne Fulimans

June 9th, 2009

Acne fulimans is not a type of acne most of us have ever heard of it, nor is it a type that most ever have to deal with or should have to deal with in their lifetimes.  While most of us suffer only from acne vulgaris and a few of us suffer from acne conglobata, acne fulimans is an entirely different creature.  It actually works more like a disease, working from the inside to tear apart the immune system.  It has been said to have multiple causes, but nobody has actually pinned down definite and provable options and causes of acne fulimans.  It has been treated with steroids in the past, and they have been found to be effective in part by reducing inflammation and raising estrogen levels to compensate for higher testosterone levels.  However, it is not treated with any normal acne treatments such as over the counter options or even Accutane.

Acne fulimans starts with pain and inflammation.  It then continues on to swell the lymph nodes, which explains in part the reason why the anti inflammatory properties of some steroids works to fight this type of acne.  Appetite completely disappears, resulting in extreme weight loss and deficiencies to say the least.  Joints also swell, and muscle mass completely disappears in many sufferers.  Some become completely unable to function. While treatment is always necessary, some may require actual hospitalization.  Some can also suffer from severe loss of bone density.  Others experience permanent and extensive damage to the digestive tract.  Sudden holes and damage to the skin have also been experienced, similar to that of the well known forms of a leper.  They can even be large enough to fit 2 full fingers into, and over time they are covered by crust, which has to be removed and can be extremely painful.  Acne fulimans does not appear in adulthood like some forms, but around the age of 13.  Early treatment is the best option.
